Pediatric Pre-diabetes and Diabetes Type 2
- A Sad Prediction
Majid Ali, M.D.
Pediatric
diabetes Type 2, in essence, is insulin toxicity.
Most overweight children have excess insulin (hyperinsulinemia)
. Most of them have glucose intolerance, which is
pre-diabetes by another name. Nearly all of them
obese children are insulin-toxic and many of them
have degrees of glucose intolerance that meet the
laboratory criteria of pediatric diabetes Type 2.
There is only one valid way to diagnose insulin
excess: simply do a two-hour insulin test. Blood
glucose levels are determined from the same samples.
However, glucose testing is so often misleading that
it is dangerous to rely on its results, as
documented extensively in the chapter “Please Say NO
to Fasting Blood Glucose Test” in my book entitled
“Dr. Ali’s Plan for Reversing Diabetes.”
A Sad Prediction
My clinical and laboratory findings in overweight
and obese children have lead me to a sad prediction:
In thirteen years (by 2025), the United States will
witness a full-blown epidemic of pediatric diabetes
Type 2. Forty percent of New York City children are
now overweight or obese (in 2012), and most of them
now have pre-diabetes. In ten years, most of them
are expected to progress to diabetes Type 2. How I
wish to be proven wrong. However, the three most
influential governmental agencies are hell-bent to
prove me right: National Institutes of Health, the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the
Institute of Medicine. The “thought-leaders” at
these prestigious institutions do not even
understand the problem. Consider the following
sentence from Gary Taubes’ excellent article in the
May 14, 2012 issue of Newsweek: “We are struggling
to figure this out,” NIH Director Francis Collins.
Deeply disappointed by NIH Director words, in a
YouTube video article, I pointed out that Dr.
Collins has never practiced nutritional medicine. He
has never helped a child with pre-diabetes or
diabetes reverse the metabolic derangement. He is
not qualified to claim that he is “struggling.”

included below.
The problem is the solutions this multi-level
campaign promotes are the same ones that have been
used to fight obesity for a century—and they just
haven’t worked. “We are struggling to figure this
out,” NIH Director Francis Collins conceded to
Newsweek last week. When I interviewed CDC obesity
expert William Dietz back in 2001, he told me that
his primary accomplishment had been getting
childhood obesity “on the map.” “It’s now widely
recognized as a major health problem in the United
States” he said then—and that was 10 years and a few
million obese children ago. Read more at http://childrenshealthcorps.org/pediatric_pre-diabetes.htm
Prevention and Reversal of
Pediatric Pre-diabetes
The prevention of pediatric pre-diabetes is a
three-phase process:
* First we must detect insulin excess. That is
simple to accomplish: simply do a two-hour insulin
test.
* Second, we must clearly understand the causes of
insulin toxicity (the trio of toxicities of foods,
environment, and thoughts).
* Third, we must prevent insulin toxicity by
addressing its causes (by eliminating or minimizing
the trio of toxicities and adding gentle daily bowel
and liver detox steps).
Core Message
The core message of all articles in this Pediatric
Pre-diabetes series and the related Diabetes Series
is: These diseases are caused by toxicities of
foods, environment, and thought. They cannot be
reversed by counting calories or by talking about
the old, obsolete, and irrelevant
“calories-in-calories-out” notions.
